Boost surfing speed

Boost your surfing speed with just some tweaks. Most of the users using these tweaks give a pretty positive feedback of a boost in their surfing speed.

Firefox + IDM + TCP Optimizer
Plz do a speed test of your net connection before & after at http://speedtest.net/ to know what difference this software has made.
1) Every1 knows that how to Speed Up the Firefox.
Who dont know, just do the following.
* Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
* Alter the entries do as follows:
Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30.
* Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer.
Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″.

2) Now Download & Install IDM. ( The Best Download Manager I’ve ever used. )

3) Now Download TCP Optimizer
Download TCP Optimizer

When u open TCP Optimizer, dont do anything, just select the option ‘Optimal Settings’ & apply the changes.
In the next box, press OK and reboot.

Use Of TCP Optimizer

The TCP optimizer works on the principle of bandwidth-delay. TCP optimizer uses product of bandwidth and delay of connection to find the best TCP window for your specific connection speed, thereby providing easy tuning of all related TCP/IP parameters, such as Maximum Transmission Unit, RWIN(The TCP receive window), and even advanced ones like QoS and ToS/Diffserv prioritization.

Then newer programs for TCP optimization also include the feature of testing average latency over multiple hosts, and finding the largest possible packet size (MTU). So this boosts up the speed upto 20 to 25 percent of the usual one

Download managers help in utilizing the bandwidth to its best, and IDM is the best known download manager, hence IDM is mentioned (for downloading files)

here are few more settings which can enhance browsing speed of FIREFOX..

Double Click on the following settings and put in the numbers below –
for the true / false Boolean – they’ll change when you double click.

    Code:
    browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs – true
    network.http.max-connections – 48
    network.http.max-connections-per-server – 16
    network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy – 8
    network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server – 4
    network.http.pipelining – true
    network.http.pipelining.maxrequests – 100
    network.http.proxy.pipelining – true
    network.http.request.timeout – 301

    hope this helps..

    regards,
    arunim

  11. Rajpandian says:

why cant we use some other download manager??? is this possible only by IDM

  12. Rajpandian says:

i use DAP to download files. can i continue with this or should i use IDM???please reply…

  13. arunim says:

    @ Rajpandian..

IDM is better than DAP.. because.. IDM divides the file upto 16 parts.. whereas DAP can’t upto this much.. resulting use of total bandwidth / faster download.

finally jst try both, check the difference & continue with whichever suits u..

    regards,
    arunim

  16. Raunak says:

hey good post , I had read this somewhere earlier but I trusted it only when I found it on hacker’s library!!!!

    1 suggestion :
why dont you add a few more tags in this post like for example “faster” ,”internet”, “increase”
or maybe you can add a feature so that visitors can add tags, just like youtube but that might backfire and lead to spamming so its your decision.
